Zhujia¡¯ao is related to the Ming Dynasty founded by Zhu Yuanzhang. Zhu Wusi, father of Emperor Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming Dynasty, once came to Zhujia¡¯ao to practice Buddhism and pay homage to the Heavenly Lord of the Numinous Treasure. After Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne, his father believed it was because of the help of the Heavenly Lord. So he went to Mianshan Mountain to offer sacrifices to the god with his cousin. Emperor Shizong Zhu Houcong, the 12th grandson of Zhu Yuanzhang, believed in Taoism. In the 21st year of the Jiajing reign (1542) when he came to Mianshan Mountain to offer sacrifices to the ancestor, he had an altar built to perform the Taoist ritual. Historical sites can be found all over Zhujia¡¯ao, such as the Road-guiding Cypress, the two pavilions named the ¡°Bringing Peace and Stability to the Country¡± and the Coiling-dragon Ladder.
