Situated in the Mianshan Mountain Scenic Zone in Jiexiu City, Shanxi Province, the Qixian Canyon is a narrow, winding and rising gorge with some suspension bridges and hanging waterfalls. Starting from the entrance of the canyon, tourists need to climb more than 10 ancient ladders, including the scaling, steel plate, hanging, stone, wooden and quincuncial-pile ladders. An iron chain of several thousand m long zigzags upwards, which is flanked by more than 50 waterfalls in various sizes. More often than not, the cliff-side springs and running waterfalls are very close to the tourists. The Qixian Canyon features steep precipices, tall trees that block out the sun, and murmuring streams; hence it is an ideal summer resort.
